Where Sound Meets Craftsmanship
Each of our wind chimes is handcrafted by artisans using natural and recycled materials. From bamboo and hand-painted designs to our newest addition: recycled glass wind chimes. Every piece reflects a different technique, material, and cultural expression.
Our recycled glass wind chimes, made in Kenya, begin as off-cuts from larger glasswork. What would otherwise be discarded is transformed into something entirely new, each piece shaped, assembled, and tuned by hand.
The result is a chime that is not only visually striking, but rich in tone… ranging from soft, delicate sounds to deeper, grounding notes.
It’s not just décor. It’s an experience.
Inside the Workshop: Where Sound Begins
Visiting the workshop where these glass wind chimes are made feels unlike anything else.
It’s quiet, but not silent.
Instead, the space is filled with a layered, melodic rhythm… chimes in motion, each one producing a different tone. Some are light and delicate, others deeper and more resonant. Big, small, high, low, together creating a soundscape that is both calming and alive.
Every chime begins as something broken.
The glass used to create these pieces comes from off-cuts - remnants from larger, custom glasswork that has been fired at over 650 degrees Celsius. What might otherwise be discarded is carefully collected, sorted, and reimagined.
From there, the process becomes entirely hands-on.
Each piece of glass is individually shaped, balanced, and assembled by skilled artisans, transforming fragments into functional, expressive objects. No molds. No mass production. Just material, intuition, and craftsmanship.
It’s the kind of process that’s difficult to fully capture in words. Something you understand more deeply when you see it, hear it, and experience it in person.
These wind chimes are crafted by master chime maker Kibe, whom we met at an exhibition in Kenya. That meeting became the beginning of a partnership rooted in shared values, sustainability, craftsmanship, and fair trade.
Through this collaboration, we’re not only bringing these pieces to a wider audience, but also supporting capacity building, fair wages, and long-term opportunity for artisan production.
